US opens probe into 174,000 Tesla cars

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating approximately 174,000 Tesla Model Y cars from 2021 due to reports of inoperative electronic door handles. NHTSA has received nine reports of parents unable to open doors, sometimes resorting to breaking windows to regain entry. The agency is concerned about children's ability to use manual releases.
