TMC meets Lok Sabha speaker seeking 20 rebel MPs' disqualification

The Trinamool Congress has formally asked Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to disqualify 20 dissident MPs. Party leader Abhishek Banerjee stated that MPs elected on the TMC ticket but joining another party forfeit their membership. The move follows the rebel MPs' attempt to form a separate bloc and merge with the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI), a claim the TMC argues is constitutionally invalid.
