SIM Binding: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has implemented a mandatory SIM-binding rule effective March 1, 2026, for all messaging platforms operating in India. This directive, issued under the Telecom Cyber Security Rules, 2024, requires apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal to ensure that account access is strictly tied to the physical presence of the registered SIM card in the primary device.
