MIT scientists create Mini Livers that can be injected into the body a potential medical game-changer

MIT engineers have developed injectable mini livers using hydrogel microspheres and hepatocytes. These satellite livers can be injected to supplement a failing organ, offering a potential lifeline for transplant candidates. Early studies in mice show these grafts can remain viable for at least two months, generating essential liver proteins.
