In 1881, a scientist created a device to save the life of the 20th U.S. President and remained unsuccessful but the device has changed the world through an invention by Alexander Graham Bell. He built an early metal detector to locate the bullet inside President James Garfield after an assassination attempt. The device failed to save Garfield because of several reasons. However, the invention later developed into the metal detectors now used in security, archaeology, construction, and industry.
