Illegal cough syrup trade: UP Police book 12 medical store owners

An FIR has been filed against twelve medical store owners and two individuals in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. They are accused of running a large illegal trade of codeine-based cough syrup. Over 37 lakh bottles worth Rs 57 crore were allegedly sold using forged documents. The syrup was smuggled to Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.
