Government to roll out biometric check for land compensation in highway projects

The government is introducing Aadhaar biometric authentication for land acquisition compensation. This ensures payments go directly to landowners' bank accounts. A pilot program is underway in five states. This new system replaces cheque handovers with instant direct bank transfers. OTP-based biometric authentication will confirm the identity of actual landowners, preventing any diversion of funds.
