First phase of Census to begin from April 1, no documents needed for process, govt says

Census 2027: The first phase of the India Census will commence on April 1, 2026. Citizens will have the option for self-enumeration, allowing digital submission of information. Data centres have been designated as critical information infrastructure to ensure security. Individual data collected will remain confidential and cannot be shared under any circumstances. Preparations for this important national exercise are in advanced stages.
