Experts see political signaling behind China's EUV claims as major technical hurdles keep commercial chipmaking years away

Langdao Silex, a Chinese startup, has introduced a prototype EUV light source claiming 90 percent domestic components. Experts, however, doubt that China can achieve a viable EUV lithography machine in the next decade. This announcement is seen as a tactic to influence U.S. export restrictions on chipmaking equipment and attract funding within China. While the prototype generates some EUV light, it does not meet the required output for commercial systems.
