DOJ sues California to block votes from alleged non-citizens

The US Justice Department has filed a lawsuit against California regarding mail-in ballots for the upcoming midterm elections. It alleges that more than 20,000 voters on a provided list are likely non-citizens. California is required to segregate and verify the ballots for these individuals before counting them. Additionally, the department seeks court approval to prevent tabulation of votes until citizenship is confirmed.
