Bengal shifts 12,000 people to safety, Assam monitors situation as GLOF hits adjoining Bhutan

West Bengal has taken precautionary measures by evacuating 12,000 residents from areas near the Sankosh River. This action follows a significant rise in water levels caused by a glacial lake outburst flood in Bhutan. Authorities in Assam are closely monitoring vulnerable regions for potential impacts from the flood. National and State Disaster Response Force teams are prepared for rescue operations if necessary.
