Bengal set to table UCC, public safety bills today in Assembly

West Bengal is set to introduce a Uniform Civil Code Bill, aiming to replace religious personal laws with a single set for all citizens, promoting equality and fulfilling constitutional directives. The BJP has long advocated for this, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah previously pledging its introduction. Notably, Scheduled Tribes will be exempt from the UCC.
