How 13,000-crore flood plan aims to turn Mumbai into a 'sponge city'

Mumbai plans a Rs 13,000-crore flood mitigation master plan for chronic flooding issues. This initiative combines conventional drainage upgrades and nature-based solutions for vulnerable areas. The proposal has received in-principle approval from the National Disaster Management Authority. Funding will be shared by the Centre, Maharashtra government, and the BMC.
