2, including importer, held in Mumbai Rs 2 crore fraud

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) busted a smuggling operation in Mumbai, arresting Javid Memon and Dipak Thakkar. They attempted to smuggle 2.4 crore worth of prohibited and restricted goods, including firecrackers and counterfeit branded items, by mis-declaring imports under M/s Jay Overseas. Memon confessed to managing the operation and implicated Thakkar, revealing past smuggling activities and international connections.
