Shrimps and prawns are not same! What anatomy reveals about size, texture and taste

While often used interchangeably, shrimp and prawns are distinct decapod crustaceans with anatomical differences in their gills, body structure, and legs. Shrimp have plate-like gills and curl tightly when coiled, while prawns possess branching gills and maintain a straighter posture. Though size can vary, their flavors are similar, making them interchangeable in recipes.
