Former PM HD Deve Gowda's wife Chennamma passes away after cardiac arrest

Chennamma Deve Gowda, wife of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, passed away on Saturday. She was admitted to Manipal Hospital for a respiratory ailment and suffered a cardiac arrest. Chennamma was the survivor of an acid attack in February 2001. She married H D Deve Gowda in 1954 and had six children. Despite her prominent family, she largely remained away from the public spotlight.
