Ladakh to Establish First Government Medical College by 2027-28

The central government has approved the establishment of Ladakh's first government medical college in Leh, set to commence in the academic session 2027-28. This initiative aims to enhance local medical education and healthcare services, providing students with opportunities to study medicine closer to home. A total of 103 positions will be filled in a phased manner, ensuring the college is adequately staffed. The move is expected to fulfill a long-standing demand from the local population and reduce reliance on other regions for medical training. The administration is tasked with ensuring that the necessary infrastructure is ready for the college's launch.
