Why Did Nabarangpur's Government Model Degree College Close Its Doors?

The Government Model Degree College in Nabarangpur has been closed indefinitely due to tensions arising from the cancellation of student union elections for the 2026-27 academic year. The college administration suspended all academic activities, including classes and examinations, citing concerns over potential unrest. Hostel residents were ordered to vacate their rooms promptly, and access to the campus is now restricted. The cancellation of the elections was attributed to a lack of eligible candidates, but students have raised questions about the nomination process, alleging irregularities. This situation has prompted the college to take precautionary measures to ensure safety and protect property.
