UP Smart Meter: Uttar Pradesh government has discontinued the mandatory prepaid system for smart electricity meters. Following widespread complaints of technical glitches and arbitrary disconnections, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed a transition to postpaid billing for over 83 lakh consumers to ensure uninterrupted power during the peak summer.
