SC asks MeitY to examine PIL seeking recovery or destruction of stolen personal data of citizens

The Supreme Court has asked the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to examine a PIL seeking a robust mechanism to retrieve or erase stolen Indian personal data stored on foreign servers. Acknowledging the issues technical complexity, the court advised the petitioner to pursue administrative and technological remedies through the government.
