Mirabai Chanu wins women's 48kg weightlifter title, opens India's gold medal account in Commonwealth Games 2026

Mirabai Chanu secured the women's 48kg gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026. She also set new Commonwealth Games records in the snatch event. India's Chanambam Rishikanta Singh earned a silver medal in the men's competition. Rishikanta equaled the snatch record but narrowly missed gold. Malaysia's Mohamad Aniq Kasdan claimed the men's gold with a Games record total.
