Maharashtra govt to set up expert panel to frame SOPs for AI use, says minister

Maharashtra government will form an expert committee within 30 days to draft AI usage SOPs, aiming for national policy input. This comes as opposition lawmakers questioned the installation of a facial recognition system in the Vidhan Bhavan without their consent. The Home Minister stated existing laws cover privacy violations by AI devices, and security personnel will receive training. The Legislature Secretariat's jurisdiction over the facial recognition system was highlighted.
