Magnitude 6.3 earthquake hits northern Japan

A strong 6.3 magnitude earthquake shook northern Japan on Friday. The tremor occurred in Pacific waters off Miyagi prefecture. No tsunami warning was issued by the Japan Meteorological Agency.
