Canada's privacy watchdog has called for urgent cybersecurity upgrades at the Canada Revenue Agency. Over 42,000 tax accounts were breached since 2020. Cybercriminals used stolen credentials to access accounts. They also modified accounts to file false returns or claim benefits. The agency is implementing new security measures to protect taxpayer information.
