CJI Surya Kant to head SC collegium after predecessor Gavai demits office

Justice Surya Kant now leads the Supreme Court collegium. This follows Justice B R Gavai's retirement. The collegium selects judges for the apex court and handles high court judge transfers. Justice Kant will head the collegium for about 15 months. Future changes to the collegium are also noted.
