CCI slaps over Rs 140-cr penalties on HP India, resellers for breach of antitrust rules

The Competition Commission of India imposed significant penalties on HP India and its resellers. These fines total Rs 142.37 crore for alleged cartelisation and bid-rigging practices. The regulator found HP India dictating prices and manipulating reseller participation in tenders. Resellers submitted cover bids to create an illusion of competition in government e-marketplace tenders. Both HP India and resellers' officials were found liable for these anti-competitive actions.
