CBSE mandates 3 languages in Class 9; two must be Indian

Students in Class 9 will soon study three languages, with two being Indian languages. This change starts from the 2026-27 academic session. The third language will not be a Board exam in Class 10. It will be tested internally by schools. This aims to reduce student pressure. Performance in the third language will appear on the Class 10 certificate.
