Inside Bengaluru's Lalbagh Botanical Garden stands a rock formation estimated to be between 3.0 and 3.4 billion years old, making it one of the oldest exposed sections of Earth's crust. Declared a National Geological Monument in 1975, the Peninsular Gneiss outcrop formed during the Archean Eon, long before oxygen, himalays, or even dinosaurs existed on the planet.
