Arizona put thermal cameras above I-17 ramps to spot wrong-way drivers; in the first 6 months, the system detected 33 vehicles before they caused a crash

Arizona has improved highway safety through the introduction of an advanced thermal camera system designed to identify wrong-way drivers. This initiative aims to establish a rapid response network capable of tackling such perilous situations. Upon detection, the system triggers warning signs and alerts traffic management operators instantly, significantly reducing response times and helping to avert possible accidents on the roads. This advancement showcases the ongoing evolution of traffic safety technologies.
