A 22-year-old Indian man working in Canada says he sends Rs 70,000 every month to support his family in India, but claims his parents lock Rs 50,000 of that into chit funds each month, leaving just Rs 20,000 for all household expenses. He says he is then asked for additional money to cover basic bills, and has already sent over Rs 16 lakh in total.
