London council moves to scrap demolition of 2 estates after 12-year fight

In a pivotal decision, Lambeth Council has announced plans to halt the demolition of the Central Hill and Cressingham Gardens housing estates. The focus will shift toward improving existing homes and fostering community ties, sparing residents from the threat of eviction. This significant turnaround, subject to Cabinet approval on October 21, marks a commitment to preserve community integrity and architectural character.
