Shraddha Kapoor reveals why she turned down multiple films after Stree 2; says waiting for Eetha was totally worth it

After the success of Stree 2, Shraddha Kapoor chose to take a measured approach towards her next film rather than immediately signing projects. The actress, who will next be seen in Laxman Utekars much-anticipated biographical musical drama Eetha, has revealed that she turned down several offers, including lucrative ones, because she was waiting for a story that truly resonated with her. Speaking about the decision, Shraddha said, After Stree 2, I was offered a lot of films and money as well, but I had decided that until I get that perfect story, I won't sign anything. My heart said that I will have to keep that patience, and I did that. The actress also acknowledged that waiting for the right opportunity was not easy, particularly when she was eager to return to the screen. However, looking back, she feels proud of having trusted her instincts and remained patient instead of taking up a project simply to maintain her screen presence. Of course its difficult to wait for something that you really really want. But right what I am feeling is pride. I just feel so proud of the fact that I waited. So, I would say listen to that little voice in your heart. Sometimes, it can be difficult but it is totally worth it, she added. Her next project, Eetha, marks a significant choice in her career, bringing her into the world of Maharashtras folk theatre traditions. Directed by Laxman Utekar and written by Kshitij Patwardhan, the film chronicles the life of Vithabai Narayangaonkar, a legendary Marathi Tamasha and Lavani performer, with Shraddha essaying the central role. The narrative traces Vithabais journey from rural folk stages to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, while exploring the gender prejudice, caste barriers and personal heartbreak she encountered along the way. It also seeks to highlight the dignity and cultural significance of Maharashtras folk-theatre tradition. Produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, alongside Laxman Utekar and Karishma Sharmas Kathputli Creations, Eetha also features Randeep Hooda, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Siddharth Jadhav in key roles. The films soundtrack is composed by Ajay-Atul. Eetha is scheduled to release theatrically across India on December 4, 2026. For Shraddha, the project represents the outcome of a wait she now believes was worth taking.
