Mona Singh recalls travelling from Pune to Mumbai for auditions before Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin breakthrough: I would return home at 11 at night

Mona Singh has looked back at the struggles she faced during the early years of her acting career, recalling how she travelled from Pune to Mumbai for auditions before landing her breakthrough role in Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. The actor also spoke about the support she received from her family as she tried to find work in the entertainment industry. Recalling her initial days in Mumbai, Mona said she was new to the industry and did not know anyone who could help her navigate auditions. Her father initially advised her against moving to Mumbai until she had confirmed work. When I started my acting journey, I was very new and didnt know anyone in the industry, but my family supported me. My dad had told me not to shift right away. He said, Since you dont have work at the moment, I dont want you to move there right now. You dont know anybody there. Once something is confirmed, then you can move. I said, Okay, she recalled. Mona Singh recalls travelling to Mumbai for auditions The actor explained that she would travel from Pune to Mumbai using the old highway, get off at Dadar and then make her way to Mahalakshmi for auditions. After a day of trying her luck, she would return home late at night. Back then, I was still new and didnt have much experience. I used to travel from Pune via the old highway to Mumbai. I would get off at Dadar, travel to Mahalakshmi for auditions, and return home at 11 at night, she said. Mona also remembered sharing details of her auditions with her parents, even when the opportunities did not lead to a role. She revealed that she was shortlisted for several projects but did not make the final cut. I would tell my parents, Today, I gave this audition, I did this, I did that. There were so many calls when I would get shortlisted but still wouldnt get the role. And then, you know, I auditioned for Jassi, and there was no looking back, she added. Her role as Jassi in Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin marked a turning point in her career and brought her recognition among television audiences. Mona Singh has since worked across television, films and streaming projects. She will next be seen in filmmaker Vikas Bahls upcoming film Bolo Bolo Bolo.
