Kubbra Sait opens up on womens empowerment and breaking stereotypes: Women have been resilient since time immemorial

Kubbra Sait recently shared her views on womens empowerment, resilience and the freedom to define ones own identity. Speaking at an event where she was honoured for being a voice for women, the actress questioned the conventional narrative that women need to be taught strength, highlighting that resilience has always been a part of womens lives. During her address, Kubbra expressed gratitude for being associated with a platform that represents women. She also pointed out that women have consistently fought for their rights and aspirations, even if their struggles have not always been documented. She said, To be associated with any platform that goes out there and represents women is nothing but an honour. And its not because were in dire times and women need help. I think women have been resilient since time immemorial. If anything, we have fought for what we wanted, since time immemorial. It may have been documented or otherwise, but somehow, weve come to believe that its been a mans world. We saw even in our last panel how men have given us the opportunity to become the women we want to be. And its just wonderful to hear that, especially in that political voice. But I think, to answer your question, Im very grateful to receive an award for being a voice for the empowerment of women. But I think Ive just had the opportunity to live life, explore it fully, be unafraid to make mistakes, and try to be a better version of a human being for myself. It just turns out that Im a woman. Through her remarks, Kubbra emphasised that womens empowerment should not be viewed solely through the lens of struggle or the need for external support. She described her own journey as an opportunity to experience life fully, learn from mistakes and work towards becoming a better person. Her concluding statement, It just turns out that Im a woman, brought attention to the distinction between living authentically as an individual and being defined primarily by gender. It also reflected her view that the freedom to make choices, explore different experiences and grow as a person is central to empowerment. Known for expressing her views on social issues, Kubbra has often challenged conventional ideas surrounding identity and gender. Her latest remarks reiterated that women have demonstrated resilience across generations and that their experiences deserve recognition, regardless of whether they have been formally recorded. Her address also encouraged a broader conversation about empowerment, suggesting that women should have the freedom to shape their own journeys without being confined to established stereotypes.
