Philadelphia students graduate without tests: Rising diplomas, uncertain college and career readiness

Philadelphias high schools are seeing a major shift in graduation standards. Since Pennsylvania removed mandatory Keystone Exams, more students are earning diplomas through alternative pathways, including college acceptance, SAT scores, or industry-recognised credentials. While graduation rates have risen to over 77%, academic proficiency on state exams remains low, leaving questions about whether students are truly prepared for college or careers.
