Himachal Pradesh schools may close as IMD issues five-day orange alert for heavy rain

Schools in parts of Himachal Pradesh may remain closed as the IMD has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall until July 23. The state government has authorised deputy commissioners to decide on suspending classes based on local weather conditions, with student safety taking priority amid warnings of landslides, flash floods and disrupted road connectivity.
