Last week, silver hit a new high, topping $56 an ounce. But there is more than what meets the eye. Silver is shining brighter than gold, as its holdings in Indian exchange-traded products have risen 18X since 2022. The Indian government released its kharif crop estimates, with food production pegged at a new high of 173.33 million tonnes, mainly due to record output of rice and maize. Sowing of rabi crops is up 12 per cent year-on-year, with planting of wheat rising 19 per cent. And a survey reveals that 71 per cent of Indians still enjoy milk and milk products.
