UK telecom giants Virgin Media O2 and VodafoneThree are rolling out a new 'kill switch' to combat rising mobile phone theft. This technology renders newly stolen, unsold smartphones completely unusable, significantly reducing their black market value. While not a complete solution, it aims to deter organized retail crime by making stolen devices worthless to thieves and disrupting the illicit trade.
