UP steps up road safety with digital drives, 'no-helmet, no fuel' campaign

The Uttar Pradesh transport department plans to strengthen digital monitoring and road safety awareness in 2026, starting with National Road Safety Month on January 1. In 2025, state-wide campaigns and strict enforcement helped cut traffic violations significantly, with challans dropping from 17.58 lakh in 2024 to 13.78 lakh, generating around 454.49 crore.
