Supreme Court bars coercive action by CBI against people linked to Punjab govt

The Supreme Court of India has prevented the CBI from taking coercive action against Punjab government officials. This directive follows a plea from the Punjab government seeking a stay on a previous high court order. The high court had directed the CBI to investigate alleged corruption involving cash for transfers and favorable policies. The Punjab government argues that the investigation process violates legal protocols intended for public servants.
