Silvana Tenreyro appointed as IMFs new Economic Counsellor, head of research

Silvana Tenreyro will join the International Monetary Fund as its new chief economist. She brings extensive policy experience and academic achievements to the role. Tenreyro previously served on the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee. Her expertise will guide the fund's global economic analysis and advice. She assumes her new position on August 10, 2026.
