SC dismisses contempt plea on asset disclosure

The Supreme Court has dismissed a contempt plea against the central government. The plea alleged the government failed to enforce its 2018 directions on asset disclosure by election candidates. Justices Pardiwala and Viswanathan found no wilful disobedience. The court's 2018 ruling mandated disclosure of assets for candidates, spouses, and dependants. Non-disclosure was deemed a corrupt practice.
