Be available for counsel and advice, but wait for the children to ask for it. Offering unsolicited advice, which comes from a position of love and concern, and telling the children that parents know better, comes in the way of their learning process. Set the boundaries, make the rules, agree on do and donts, but do this at the very start. After that, it is their game to play.
