India's vegetable oil imports jump 13 per cent in first half of 2025-26 on palm oil surge

India's vegetable oil imports surged 13 percent to 7.94 million tonnes in the first half of the 2025-26 oil year. Palm oil shipments nearly doubled, boosting overall imports. This rise occurred despite increased cooking oil prices and a depreciating rupee. Stocks of vegetable oil also showed a significant increase, indicating improved supply availability.
