India needs 2.6 billion sq ft of healthcare space by 2035, says CBRE

India requires an expansion of its healthcare infrastructure with an additional 2.6 billion sq ft by 2035. This need arises due to an expected demand for nearly 2.9 million more hospital beds nationwide. Current statistics show India has only 1.6 hospital beds per 1,000 people, significantly less than the global average. Certain states face much lower hospital bed density compared to their disease burden, indicating unmet healthcare needs.
