China's population falls for a fourth straight year

Chinas population fell for the fourth straight year in 2025, dropping by 3.39 million to 1.405 billion, faster than in 2024. Births fell to 7.92 million, the lowest in decades, while deaths rose to 11.31 million, widening the natural population decline.
