Apply same rules on satcom players intending to use spectrum being used by mobile players: Airtel

Bharti Airtel's Rahul Vatts stated that satcom players using mobile spectrum should follow telecom regulations. Currently, telecom operators acquire spectrum through auctions, while satcom players do not. The Telecommunications Act, 2023 allows administrative allocation of spectrum for satcom. Vatts emphasized compliance with existing legal precedents regarding spectrum allocation methods. This assertion aligns with the Supreme Court's directive on ensuring spectrum auctions for commercial use.
