Absolut vodka maker Pernod Ricard withdraws plea against $314 mn India tax demand

French firm Pernod Ricard has withdrawn its court challenge against India's tax demand. The company faced a $314 million demand for undervaluing Scotch whisky imports. This dispute is the largest tax issue for Pernod in India. Pernod argued India did not provide sufficient investigation data during its probe. The company is also involved in other legal battles regarding liquor policy violations.
