2027 census to be fully digital; data collection will not affect welfare schemes, says Official

India's 2027 Census will be fully digital, utilising advanced technology for enumeration. Approximately 30 lakh enumerators will conduct the decennial exercise across the nation. The census will occur in two phases, beginning with house listing and housing details. A self-enumeration portal allows citizens to register their information online before fieldwork. Data collected will strictly serve national planning purposes, not welfare scheme eligibility.
