Under fire over links with rape accused godman, Maharashtra women's panel chief quits

Maharashtra State Commission for Women chairperson Rupali Chakankar resigned Friday following criticism over her association with rape-accused 'godman' Ashok Kharat. Chakankar, also NCP women's wing chief, submitted her resignation to Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar after reportedly being asked to step down by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
